Singapore Dream

What constitutes the Singapore Dream? Is it an emulation of the American Dream, whose fundamental ethos connotes freedom, equal opportunity and upward mobility, regardless of whether you’re a native or an immigrant? Many immigrants have come from abroad to pursue the Singapore Dream, and Singapore Dream (ongoing since 2015) will capture these migrant workers in a different light. The series contrasts the dreams and reality of these workers, while challenging our perspectives and pre-conceived understanding of this marginalized group of people. These workers are mostly from the construction and building industry, as well as domestic helpers. This series will showcase migrant workers in a humanistic approach through a performative and collaborative process; to empower them, not marginalize them, to understand them, not ostracize them.
